JAMILA RAEGAN
I want to first thank my beautiful sister for allowing me to post her on my blog! Now on to her story! Jamila is one of a kind, a genuine gem. I aspire to follow through her footsteps of the travel world. Jamila has traveled to Barbados, Puerto Rico, The Netherlands, Switzerland, France, and the United Arab Emirates. (cool right?) Though she's been overseas she has recently taken interest in exploring the states. You don't always have to leave to find amazing sites, cool people, and a good time.
"Having lived in New York City for fifteen years and now Chicago, food hasn't been the mystery honestly. I will say I am in love with many foods from many countries/cultures. A few of my favorites include rustic Italian (& particularly fond of good crudo), North African cuisine (shrimp tagine is my favorite!), French everything, Korean BBQ, I want to name everything nearly, so much culinary goodness!!" In order to grasp culture one must taste. You cannot be picky if you want to emerge in different cultures. I personally think it's fun to try new foods, don't knock it till you try it!
“I’ve found that travel allows me to dream bigger and at the same time appreciate the quieter things about life. I love learning the similarities of humanness on a global level.”
In order to have an awesome time abroad you have to find the spots that interest you the most. "For Paris, most things are just so beautiful. I would say see the sights, get that out of the way I suppose, BUT take time to get lost on river walks and graveyards, in parks and gardens, force yourself to ask for directions in French and yearn to understand, AND by no means bypass the vintage and antique sellers, grocers, and patisseries, ALL amazing!" You cannot settle for the regular tourist sites!!!! You have to find yourself, get lost, and TAKE YOUR TIME. You will not be able to live in the moment without patience.
“What happens in Paris, stays in Paris ;)”
