SYDNEY HARRIS
Sydney is also Vegetarian. *applauds*. Being a vegeterian can be difficult when emerging into new cultures. "I had regular vegetarian options" said Sydney. But "Lisbon is know for their cod, and the many ways in which they prepare it. Our very first night in Lisbon, we went to a restaurant who served cod in many dishes and in different ways".
Which location was your favorite?
I enjoyed our visit to the tile museum. Lisbon's architecture includes tile, and has been apart of the city's history. We got to take a private tour of the museum, as well as paint and design our very own tile. We were able to let them dry, get glazed, and bring them home!
Take away's from your travels?
The Portuguese value their relationships with friends and family tremendously. In the Portuguese culture, the importance placed on family and enjoying each other’s company is very evident. They take their time to enjoy life and embrace the “now”. My time abroad helped me realize that sometimes you need to just take your time and enjoy your surroundings: cherish your family and close friends.
One thing Syd recommends to bring along while traveling is a polaroid camera! "The pictures will make great souvenirs and be extra cute to hang on your wall".
What's more magical than spending your 21st birthday in another country? Syd, was able to do just that! "I had my 21st birthday while abroad! We met some Portuguese friends who worked at the bar/restaurant across the street from our hotel. For my birthday, they took us downtown and we hiked up to the tallest view of the city in Lisbon. There, I was able to countdown the final seconds leading to my birthday, while having the best view in town!" Continue reading to learn about Sydney's experiences!

I've known Sydney since Freshman year, and if I remember she does LOVE to shop. When I brought up shopping she responded with "Lisbon had plenty of shopping centers and shopping stores downtown. Their fashion "district" was just how you imagined one would be overseas! Very overwhelming with all of the stores lol". This sounds like my type of place *smirk emoji*
-------------------------------------------------------
What was the most expensive thing you purchased?
I Went shopping at a very cute store named Bershka, I kinda over did it! lol I love clothes!
"Must See" spots!
Cascais Beach, Portugal. We fortunately had one very hot and sunny day. We took advantage of this because for the majority of the trip, it had been windy and rainy most days. We had the weekends free to explore the city, so we took this as an opportunity to head to the beach for a "beach day!" We took the train just outside of Lisbon, to a beach called Cascais Beach. It was a great way to end the trip!
Recommendations should never be overlooked or taken for granted. Syd recommends to "always have an opened mind and be able to look have different perspectives of the world. Never be judgemental. Being willing to learn and to be engulfed in a foreign culture will hopefully allow you to gain the best experiences while abroad".
THANK YOU SYDNEY FOR BEING MY TRAVELER OF THE WEEK! KEEP ON TRAVELING!
