Ciao Belle from Rome. My three days spent in Rome were relaxing and peaceful, due to our beach getaway and sleep in the spacious hotel room. As soon as we stepped off the plane we IMMEDIATELY felt the heat. Luckily our hotel was 5 minutes away from the airport so we didn't have to walk far. The colosseum was a 20 minute struggle (due to the hill landscape) but we managed. I was shocked how big the colosseum really is, I don't know why I thought it would be smaller (probably because of cartoons). Anyways it was amazing, once a place of social gatherings long ago still stands today, this made me put age into perspective. Compared to Rome, U.S.A. is basically brand new! We have no spectacular monuments or places that have survived centuries of war, time, and technology. Our second day we ventured to the coast Santa Marinella. If you ever plan to travel to Rome go to the beach! I hadn't been to the beach since Freshman year, so its safe to say I was in need of a tan and an ocean view. The water glistened, the sky was blue (not a cloud in sight!), and the temperature was just right. What everyone failed to mention was some people would be nude, well not completely nude but topless. I had no problem with this of course, but I was shocked since it wasn't classified as a "nude beach" (This will be added to my bucket list though). One thing I did note was all the children, both male and female, were topless. I was confused at first but then it hit me, THEY'RE KIDS! Living in a capitalist society we are taught to buy everything in sets, a bikini top and bottom, a left and right sock, a scarf, hat, and gloves, etc. But in this case it made sense to only purchase bottoms since there's nothing to cover on a young child. (I will remember this for when I have children). In the end the water was salty, the sand was hot, but we enjoyed our 4 euro trip. Food: Compared to Paris the food was amazing, I'm a big fan of pasta and pizza so this was my foodie paradise. One mistake Trey and I made was ordering a 3 cheese pizza with cheeses we hadn't heard of, the pizza came out strong aka smelly. lol Most of our meals included pasta with seafood and we loved every bite.
