South Africa 2016
Cape Town '16: A place of resilience, vibrancy, culture, breathtaking landscapes, and the ugly truth of racial segregation and social injustice! While spending 3 weeks in Cape Town I had the opportunity to meet freedom fighters of the anti-apartheid movement, student activists at the university of western cape, local artists, and see some of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen. From paragliding, to attempting to climb Table Mountain, to sipping mojitos while the sunset at Camps Bay, to eating authentic ethnic (and finger licking good) cuisine at the historical Langa township, to speaking with college students about black liberation, to jamming to "Panda" on Live Long Street, my experience in Cape Town was one to remember!

Morocco
Morocco 2015
Morocco: 'Too much tagine!' By the 9th and final full day in Morocco, I was sick of the ethnic Moroccan meal prepared in a tagine pot and usually served with rice. The handmade, yet detailed ceramics and architecture of Morocco were simply beautiful. Though I traveled in Morocco for a limited 9 days, I saw the diverse lifestyles and landscapes ranging from Nomads living on the Algerian border, to those living in the lively medina, to even having a meal (of course, tagine) that was prepared in the Sahara desert! I literally got lost in the unique finds of the Bizzare (cultural market) in Marrakech, where I found goods that totally remodeled my home. While behind socially, pertaining to the liberation of woman, Morocco offers some amazing sights to see!

Morocco 2015
Mahogany has traveled to Cape town May 2016, Morocco May 2015 and Rwanda May 2014. She has also traveled to Volubis (Roman ruins) and the famous Hassan II mosque. When asked if Mahogany would return to Africa she replied "I have 49 other countries I need to visit there! There's so many places to go, I don't know where I'm going next, but I'm ready! Mahogany has this to say to future travelers "Try everything, do everything! Just cause it's different than America doesn't mean it's "wrong" or "below" it's simply different. Always do a personal privilege check! And If you have the money, spend it! Don't not get dope finds because you wanna bring money back". Thank you Mahogany for being our Traveler of the week!
